I’m currently sitting watching The Grinch while my flatmate puts up the Christmas tree (he is the king of trees, I don’t mess with his decorating skills) and getting cosy in my onesie. Not just any onesie mind you.
Meet the magic that is OnePiece. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve had this on every night since it got delivered. I know not everyone is the biggest fan of jumpsuits like this, but it’s comfy and cosy and I absolutely love mines (the Marius in grey/white/navy) I’m itching to wear it going snowboarding! Maybe somewhere indoors like Xscape though, where I’m less likely to fall over and get a wet bum.
If you were at the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham over the weekend like myself then you might have seen their massive stall. It looked like their team were having a lot of fun 🙂 They have so many different styles and colours on offer, if you’re looking to buy one as a christmas present or perhaps one for yourself, then you can get 20% off with the code
31LITTLEBLOGOFHORRORS which is valid until 23rd December. Be sure to let me know if you order one, I promise you won’t regret it.

I’ve been enjoying some lovely new gold and shimmery eye makeup from MeSoMakeup. The shimmering eye and lip pencil is from Barry M, and although I would use it on my eyes I am not so sure if I’d be brave enough for on my lips. I also got the Lily Lolo (a brand which I have been wanting to try for AGES) mineral eyeshadow in Vanilla Sparkle. Both are highly pigmented and long lasting, and have been adding a nice festive touch to my daily cat eye look. MeSoMakeup also stock some other brands you don’t always get on the high street, and the Zombie Girl Mineral Collection from Concrete is next on my list. Best packaging ever (if you love a zombie like me)
Onto hair, in this post I styled my locks with the Uevo Design Cube Soft Gloss, imported from Japan but available from The Hyde Park Hair Shop. First up, it smells AMAZING. Almost good enough to eat. I only need a light hold across my fringe but do like to mix it up with a bit of texture and the soft gloss was perfect for that. It has a really subtle shimmer throughout which left my hair looking nice and shiny. I hate hair that looks overly styled (unless deliberate) and I can’t wait to show this cube to my Mum, who is a hairdresser turned session stylist for fashion shoots. Think this would be a perfect addition to her kit.
Would you judge me if I told you I have no shame at all in jumping to the shops in my OnePiece and Hello Kitty Vans (They’re not just for the kids, you can get adult sizes at Spartoo) Well, I have no shame! My love for Hello Kitty and Vans makes these shoes the perfect combination. Even if the first compliments I got on them were from my little sister. December has been all about keeping cosy for me so far, I don’t think I’m ready to give up my comfies for party dressed just yet.
Something a little bit different to end the post, but recently I gained a lovely who flatmate (and her cat, who Dexter is in love with!) called Claire and she is my old personal trainer from boot camp. She has been amazing company and a great influence to have around the house at this time of year when it is easy to indulge a little too much. She has been giving me PT sessions every week and I’ve been using this new Water-to-go water bottle, which has been given her seal of approval!
Apart from being a pretty sturdy water bottle, it contains a filter system on the inside that can turn bathroom, stream or rainwater into perfectly safe drinking water. The filter lasts about 3 months/200 litres of water and doesn’t cost much to replace (around £7) which is pretty good considering how much we spend on bottled water when out and about. I know this is the season of mulled wine and hot chocolate, but I’ve made a vow to myself to drink more water and not completely loose sight of my healthy eating amongst the churros and bratwursts at the Glasgow Christmas Market…

Very envious of your OnePiece! Primark onesies are good value but a OnePiece is the ultimate one. I have been known to pop to Asda in pyjamas (at like midnight!) so I'm all for going the shops in the OnePiece. Love the eyes, especially the subtle shimmer under the lower lash line.

I've been living in a cat onesie from Matalan for the past month, I'm definitely not one to judge! That's super cute though, especially with the Vans 🙂

That onesie does look sooooo snug! I bought a Totoro onesie recently, the perfect thing for this time of year!
The fact that your water bottle can filter bathroom steam absolutely bows my mind!! Wizardry!

My boyfriend's got a couple onesies now and I'm so jealous at how cozy he looks in them. I'm kind of afraid I'll feel claustrophobic in one though.

Your blog has become one big dump site for your freebies. I still love you, but it's getting kind of boring.
December 11, 2013 at 7:55 pmAyden
Anonymous, welcome to the world of blogging and review writing. I take it you're new here? Pull up a seat.
December 11, 2013 at 8:42 pmClaire
Ayden, I'm sorry but I have to agree with the previous comment. I'm not a blogger so have no ulterior motive to writing this and I'm only doing so because I am such a big fan of your blog but have become increasingly disheartened every time I read one of your posts to find you are mainly promoting items you have been sent. I completely understand that bloggers get sent freebies and think that's completely fine but I feel like the tone of your blog has changed because of it, which is sad. I think it is unfair that you have replied to the anonymous poster with such a negative comment, surely you must know that you are posting a great deal about companies that are sending you free stuff? The main issue I have is with your 'cost of relaxation post' which linked to credit cards – I think there are some moral issues that you need to consider when you're blogging given that you have such a wide target audience when you post online. I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I just feel as someone who has read your blog for a long time it is fair that I should be allowed to express my feelings about the way in which your blog has changed.

Of course Claire, point taken. I stopped writing such personal and diary like posts because of the backlash I was getting, reading google analytics and seeing that people were googling to find out about my break up, being cheated on etc. So to protect my emotional wellbeing I have stopped sharing so deeply about my personal life. If I can't write about my personal life, and I can't write honest reviews for experiences and products I am getting via my blog, then I'm not quite sure what I can write about anymore. Blogging is a part time job for me and I conduct myself with my heart on my sleeve every single time. I'm sorry that it doesn't come across that way anymore. Maybe time for me to have a serious rethink x

I'm glad someone has brought this up as I too feel its all about the free things you get. I can't afford half the things you write about so can't really relate to anything. Your blog used to be fun and light hearted and now it's just coming across as a little fake.
December 11, 2013 at 11:48 pmI think you hit the nail on the head with your previous comment, saying blogging is your part time job. Sadly its coming across all too obvious that your in this for the money.
Ayden
Hi ladies, Thank you for your comments and feedback – I do appreciate you taking the time to get in touch. I wanted to address the three of you as well as any other readers who have concerns. I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t enjoyed the direction I’ve taken on the blog as much as some of my older posts. As I mentioned in my previous comment, I have taken a step away from writing really personal posts for a number of reasons having had some bad experiences.
Additionally, the way in which my posts have changed feels like a natural progression for me: as the blog and I have grown(up!?), and personal circumstances have changed, it is only natural this will be reflected in my writing and the content that is posted here, and that what I post will not always appeal in the same ways to the same people who might have enjoyed my posts previously.
Ultimately, I write Little Blog of Horrors as a hobby, a creative outlet and when I’ve got some downtime between jobs it does help make ends meet. It’s mine to write what I will and I’m not ashamed to admit that as a result of the reputation and following I have built up I am a target for brands and marketers who want to reach new audiences. The whole landscape of blogging and bloggers hearing from brands has changed drastically in recent times and being in touch with other bloggers and having close relationships with friends who contact bloggers for a living, I know that I am conducting myself in a way that is very common across the blogosphere.
The reviews written on here are always honest and I only write about things that I am interested in personally.
If anyone does have any questions on any posts or items that have been received for free I am more than happy to disclose.

Thankyou so much for your honest response. I love your style of writing which was the main reason I started reading your blog. Perhaps other bloggers have gone the same direction as you. Unfortunately (although unfortunately probably isn't the correct word to use) the other blogs I read are about things bought by the blogger. I read blogs to see if people recommend products ect, but I want those products to have been chosen by the writer and not just because she has been sent it.
December 12, 2013 at 2:37 pmIt's probably upsetting to hear this kind if feedback but I speak for myself, the reason I wrote it was because your blog used to be one of my favorites.
Kel
I was the original Anon, I will add my name now but don't have any accounts otherwise to use, sorry.
Your blog is one of my favorites and has been for years, so I am definitely not new here. I get genuinely excited when I see that you've posted because I never felt like you were forcing things and updates on your life are always interesting! I'm from North America and I'm fascinated with your neck of the woods so it was cool to see a really successful, interesting and multi-faceted person like yourself writing about the day-to-day happenings over there. Most recently I really loved the post on your little jaunt to London, stuff like that.
Obviously you're going to get freebies because you have a well established blog and I'm very happy that you've become so successful as you deserve it. I guess all I meant is that it would be nice if you'd mix some reviews in with "regular" posts instead of doing posts just full of reviews (like they have mostly been lately). I wasn't trying to be a dick, I just wanted to give you some constructive feedback from a long time reader. Sorry if that wasn't clear through the words that I used (and, I can see now that it wasn't). There is absolutely no hostility in what I was saying, so I apologize that it came off that way.
I know people have probably been googling things about your love life and all that jazz but your loyal readers don't care about that, I certainly don't. I think you can definitely find a good mix, though, between personal-but-not-too-personal and reviews. I don't actually care if you've paid for this stuff or not, if you haven't (and you're always good about disclosing) then at the end of the day more power to you because wouldn't we all love that?! As I said, you're deserving as you've taken care to build up your following over the years and have done a good job and are now reaping the rewards, as you should be.
Just a few thoughts. Obviously I will stop reading if it comes to that but I genuinely love your blog and just wanted to offer you some feedback.

Oh no what has happened to your brows and hair n makeup! girl you looked much better before you started messing with it all! your makeup is very orange n brows are black and your hair is white, not a good look

That onesie looks so cosy, I am definitely going to look in to getting one! It's freezing where I live so I could definitely do with something to snuggle up in.
Also I have read your blog for a while and I am jealous of how you can pull off any hair colour! You looked lovely with dark hair but the blonde really suits you too! I certainly couldn't get away with changing my hair colour!
Looking through the other comments it looks like you're getting some not so positive ones but I think if you're being sent things to review it's a sign of the success of your blog and you should be proud that you're obviously seen as being an influential blogger. Don't let the few negative people get you down, just do what you enjoy doing and if other people don't like it then try not to worry about it. You can't please all of the people all of the time!
Anyway I think your blog is great and you seem like a really lovely girl, and I enjoyed reading this post as I do all your others!
