New Girl

I have had these pictures uploaded
since Thursday and ready to write a post, but I’ve had quite a strange
collection of events happen to me over the past few days, including a
ridiculous amount of sleep over the past 24 hours (I must have needed an
epic recovery snooze) So finally, drama free, I am getting to sit down
with some music on and a cuppa. At this rate I do not plan on leaving
the house on friday 13th!

I’ve been super organised
this year and finished my Christmas shopping before the 1st of December.
More panic buying induced than anything as there isn’t much work going
on in the world of TV & Film at the moment, so it was good to
get it all out of the way. All I have left to do is to wrap everything,
and I ordered these little polaroid style photos from Printic
to use as gift labels for some of my presents. I plan on punching a
hole in the corner and attaching it to the presents via ribbon 🙂

Have you ever used Printic before? I used their free app on my phone to order instagram photos as prints and it was easy peasy.
Something
about December screams ‘winter makeover’ to me. The nights are getting
darker, the days colder and everyone is getting a bit tired with the
combination of work, christmas shopping and the various social occasions
that occur with the party season. After spending so much money on
everyone else and not much time (or money, but not that it matters) on
myself, I’ve had a clear out of my wardrobe and had a go at a wee bit of
a New Girl inspired makeover.

Geeky TV Signal watch from Born Pretty.
They have some lovely stuff and this is a sneaky little dedication to
what I do for a living ^_^ And readers of my blog can get 10% off with
the code AYDENMC10.

Super girly pink lipstick by Elizabeth Arden from My Very.co.uk secret santa. Very have a massive range of Christmas Gifts
and I couldn’t have been more pleased with what my secret santa chose
for me. Have you taken part in any secret santas this year? I used the
Very Gift Guru app to help me find the present for the blogger I bought
for (hope she likes it)

As mentioned above, lipstick from my Very secret santa. Brows and tan by Benefit (more on that later) and Rayban glasses from Vision Direct. I absolutely love them! They’re dark tortoiseshell on the outside and
purple on the inside. I had been getting a lot of tension headaches
recently from now wearing my glasses, so these wee beaut’s with my
prescription in them have been a savior. I haven’t wanted to take them
off!

My New Girl inspired look is a bit more casual than what I’ve seen on Zalando’s inspiration page, but I hope my mix of bold brows, geeky accessories, girly lipstick, glasses and a polkadot dress would do our gal Jess proud.

To keep my skin feeling fresh and hydrated in these harsh months I have been using this Thalgo Exfoliator from The Salon Look.
It smells lovely, and quite natural in comparison to some exfoliators
I’ve tried in the past. I’ve used this twice a week so far and it has
been making my skin feel really clean and radiant. Judging by the photos
above, my skin is probably in the best condition it’s been in, in a
very long time. I can feel some spots arising after the week I’ve had
though 🙁
I
mentioned about my tan and brows above, well I went to the new Benefit
Boutique which has opened at House Of Frasers in Glasgow. For tanning
they are using Vita Liberata, which I already use the cream version of
so I was excited to see how the spray would turn out.

It
was SO good. Vita Liberata is honestly the best fake tan I have ever
used. Great colour, no smell and a brilliant gradual fade. And when I
say no smell I genuinely mean NO SMELL. I really don’t like tans who
make that claim and you wake up in the morning smelling like
curry/biscuits/cornflakes. The tan fades really well and is gradual all
over, meaning no tell tale old tan signs of it clinging to your knees or
the inside of your arms.

I
had heard mixed reviews in the past about the Brow Bar at Benefit, but
after experiencing it for myself I was super pleased. The girls will
even apply some makeup for you afterwards so you’re not left leaving
with half a face on and bright red skin around your eyebrows. There’s
something about bold brows and a nice glowing tan which never fails to
make you feel better. The girls at the boutique are so friendly and
experienced in what they do, I will definitely be going back there for
my brows and tan before Christmas Eve. Now all I need is for someone to do my hair, roots ahoy!
Do you feel selfish taking a bit of ‘me’ time at Christmas when you’re already spending money on gifts for others?

I love taking 'me time' at Christmas (read: all year round), think it's definitely a necessity at a time that can be quite overwhelming with busy-ness! Loving the strong brows – at the moment I'm working a full fringe, but thanks to the winter winds I always make sure my brows look neat underneath! x

  • Leona of Oh! Leona.

I don't even want to think about how many Christmas presents I have to buy still! I'm sure i'm not usually this late with buying presents…

Those glasses look awesome! You really suit being blonde too, my brother always tries to get let him dye my hair blonde but the thought of it absolutely terrifies me so well done for having the balls to do it!x

Your brows look fab, I think I will be making an appointment at the brow bar and asking for your brows! Have also recently been introduced to Vita Liberata, isn't it fab. Not only does it not honk but it has so many fewer nasty chemicals that most of the other big brands contain, I am defo a fan.

    Love the specs too btw!!
