After an awesome weekend at Alton Towers and Blackpool Pleasure beach with Jenn, I feel like I am on some sort of horrible come down today. After the blogger mess up I seem to have lost my last post, which sucks and I really hope I get it back soon. Any of you face a similar situation? So that’s annoyed me. First time I’ve had any sort of Monday blues in quite a while, a few things are really getting to me and I’m currently typing this from the comfort of my bed. I think a good movies, some nice brunch and a pot of tea will make me feel better for now. On a happier note, I did have the most amazing weekend with Jenn – never laughed so much in my life! I think people must have thought we were completely hysterical/insane/raving Glaswegian lunatics. So a wee post about our adventure shall follow soon.
Some nice things happened to me last week. Reminding me that there are some very lovely people out there. I also made some new friends (of the furry variety…) whom I’d actually like to introduce you all to.

A chilled mix cd, gorgeous letter, and sweeties in a beautiful parcel from
Rosie. Why? Just cause. I think just cause is the
best reason why. She is awesome, I really could give her a big hug right now.
(Actually thought this said Vagina when I first glanced at it. Need my new glasses pronto!)
My swap parcel from
Jess in the USA. She got me some amazing american candy, cereal, makeup, plus a few handmade and vintage finds. Jess is an absolute wee gem, we have had some lovely email exchanges over the past couple of months and she has also just started up a blog of her own. So please pop on over and say hello if you get a chance 🙂 I’m looking forward to tasting and trying out my new goodies.
I also got a really sweet letter and brooch from
Chloe (which I have forgotten to take a picture of, my bad) to thank me for taking a part in her post/interview on bullying, along with
Michelle and
Bee, called
‘I’m not afraid to take a stand’. So thank you to Chloe, Rosie and Jess – receiving things in the post which aren’t junk mail or Betterware catalogues makes me a happy girl. Now onto the furry friends, there are some little boys I would like you all to meet…
Oscar
Alfie
I finally did it! 🙂 Anyone who has followed my blog from waaaay back at the beginning, might know how much I have wanted Guinea Pigs for a very long time. So after much consideration, I finally took the plunge last week and went and got them. They are boys, and look pretty terrified in the pictures because this was last week when I’d just got them. Their cage is also set up a bit differently now. I have been dying to tell you all sooner! They are so shy at the moment, but have definitely improved in the week I’ve had them. We cleaned the cage out last night and had a little bit of a cuddle with them (Alfie wrapped up in my hoodie and Oscar wrapped up in a towel and laying on our chest) Pretty safe to say they were still terrified, but I’m hoping with time they will come out of their shell a bit more. So any fellow piggie owners out there, I’d appreciate whatever advice or top tips you’d fancy sharing 🙂
Here’s to a better week and a better mood ♥
Ayden x

Aww so happy you got Guinea Pigs! They make such lovely pets 🙂 I held mine every day and now Muffin is really tame and will let you pick her up whenever you like 🙂 Muffin's favourite food is parsley which is really easy to get hold of so if you need something to help you tame them then that might help 🙂 xxx

EEEEEK – GUINEA PIGS!!! 😀 My favourite animals – I am totally jealous right now. What cuties! <3
Same colours as my beloved Kenny that passed away a few years ago. Gahh, I miss my piggie…
Anyways, also jealous of your packages. I love Rosie – she leaves me such amazing comments/tweets. 🙂 x x
PS: I hate Monday Blues. *hugs*! x
May 16, 2011 at 11:39 am♥Forever the ugly duckling ♥
My guinea pig advice is to give them time as they can be timid for a long time 🙂 Oh and they need alot more space than that tiny cage and a little hut or something they can hide away in.
They are super cute!

Some of my favorite posts on your blog are the parcel posts! I love snooping over what people got in the mail. Wah! I wish I had parcels.
Congratulations on the guinea pig, Ayden!

So, SO jealous of your guinea pigs, I grew up with them constantly and I love them.
Me and the boyfriend are currently renting a lovely flat and after 6 months we asked if we could get guinea pigs/rabbit but we were told the building had a strict no pets policy :(…. bit of a bummer when the contract states you may be able to so long as you have written permission.
Hope you enjoy your boys xx

They're adorable! I've had Guinea Pigs for years, I'd suggest giving them hay often – they love the stuff! Give them green likes spinach, broccoli stalks etc rather than lettuce – apparently it's much better for them and lettuce isn't so good. Pick them up as often as you can, they'll become much more friendly that way 🙂 It's possible that, because you have two boys, they'll fight, in which case, it may be a good idea to get one, or both, neutered if you can. Make sure you keep their nails clipped too!
May 16, 2011 at 12:36 pmYour little ones are absolutely beautiful!! xx

Blogger totally erased a bunch of my scheduled posts, and it also changed some of my already posted posts and turned them into drafts. And ALL my comments are gone. It was so weird!

Tea in bed, that would be nothing short of wonderful. Settling for tea at my desk, an episode of Grey's Anatomy and catching up with blogs before I go back to the books. 18 days to go…
Not made keen on Guinea Pigs, but have to admit your boys are quite cute. I would love to have mice or a cat, but I feel that may be some years coming.
I'm loving the look of your packages, wish my post had been as exciting this week. Glad you liked the brooch and thank you for linking to the post. Thanks again for taking part, you're amazing!

what lovely packages!!! There is a great shop near me called Wally's that sells American food, lots of nice sweets and cereal and peanut butter and jam all swirled in a jar 🙂
May 16, 2011 at 3:49 pmPeople are so nice.

Oscar and Alfie!! YAY for getting them! I really want a pet too,and my friends cat has just had kittens and I wanted to take one but Mr is allergic to cats 🙁 Boohoo! I might have to consider getting a guinea pig too or something equally cute and fluffy! maybe a ferret! 🙂

Looks like you have recieved some lovly parcels as of late! Wish US sweets and cereals were easier to get over here but then i suppse the novelty would wear off!
You new little boys are abs lovely! When my dad was younger him and his fam used to breed guinea pigs and had about forty at a time!

Ahhh I love little piggies, they have the funniest little faces lol. My mum has two (Beryl and Marjorie) and I miss them now I've moved out. Always make sure they have fresh water. And they love dandelion leaves which is good because they're weeds so nobody will mind you picking them. And give them things to nibble on coz it's good for their teeth 🙂

oscar & alfie look fab & you're so lucky with your swap parcel, it's such a cool idea! nowt better than getting stuff by post! 🙂
May 16, 2011 at 4:36 pmLaura
I let out a little squee when I saw them! We got guinea pigs at the end of March (exact same cage actually!) and I've loved having them so much. They're adorbs, even if they do make a lot of noise sometimes!

The guinea pigs are cute! I've got three at the moment (two were bought when the other's companion was viciously attacked by my cousin's dog – evil creature!) Two are nearly 8 months and are pretty used to us now, but the other is 2 years and still terrified of people – the breeder sold them too late, so they didn't get used to handling. She's getting there though! Mine are so noisy, I think its a case of them just singing to themselves for fun, even when they're going to sleep. I'd say just give them lots of cuddles for short periods of time (and have a towel over you to start with, until you get to know the face they do when they're about to completely soak you!) 🙂

Oscar and Alfie are the cutest!! They are so tiny! I used to have a Guinea Pig and she was really tame and loved being handled. I guess the more you handle them the less scared they will be, mine used to just go to sleep in my arms.
Those are some pretty cool packages you've got there. Getting parcels always makes me happy and tea makes me even happier so I hope you feel a bit better after yours!

aw, I miss my guinea pigs!
May 16, 2011 at 5:48 pmRaffles Bizarre
Ooooh yay Guineas at last 😀 I love guinea pigs, they make the cutest lil noises. My aunt used to have a shed full of them and runs all over the garden when I was little.
How well have you done with the swap and your other gifts 😀 When I have a bit more money I'm definately going to try and find an American buddy up for a swap and get me over all my favourite treats.
Hope you begin to feel better soon sweetie, get those flicks on and some of that candy in your face!!
<3

Love the guinea pigs! You get the best swap goodies!! I hope you have a good day! I'm sending some sushine in an envelope!
May 16, 2011 at 6:43 pmSam
I have 4 piggies,3 that are nearly 2 years old and a rescue one that we got in Feb. Like you I have wanted them my entire life and was finally 25 when I got them.
May 16, 2011 at 7:04 pmWe have Fudge, Mable, Poppy and Lilly. When we first got poppy we had to bundle her up in a towel to hold her and now she is the loudest of the bunch even though she is the smallest and a little bit blind( I wonder if you can get glasses for piggies lol)
Don't worry within a month they will be weeking at you when the hear the fridge door open. Once they start you have never heard a sound like it! Oh and don't hold them for too long because they do pee on you lol Oh and the love Parsley
Cat
I had guinea pigs growing up, but usually one guinea pig and one rabbit together. Two boys might fight as they get older, so keep an eye on them. We had a big run in the garden for ours when the weather was nice, and they lived in an outside hutch most of the time but with inside cages when it was cold. I used to love opening the back door in the morning to go and feed them and they'd immediately start chirping!

Wow looks like you got some fab gifts! I love the idea of a swap!
Your guinea pigs look cute, I'm quite jealous!

Awww your guinea pigs are ADORABLE!! I love all the parcels, my friends and I used to send each other packages all the time and I haven't done it in so long. It is one tradition that must start up again! I hope you're feeling a bit happier now. I'm still on a bank holiday comedown, I swear.
May 16, 2011 at 9:57 pmAnonymous
Aw they're so cute 🙂
I'm suffering a bit with the Tuesday blues today but I hope your Monday ones are long gone!
May 17, 2011 at 1:50 pmRosie [a rosie outlook]
Ooh there's your package I sent! So glad you loved it so much – also so glad that you agree that 'just because' is quite a good enough reason to do something :] Proper jealous of your box of treats from America, I am going to have to find some US types to swap with again, I just love American candy and cereal.
May 17, 2011 at 5:31 pmOh my, those guinea pigs are TOO cute! I have wanted some guinea pigs for ages but never quite taken the plunge so you'll have to let me know how you get on with them! Oscar and Alfie are such sweet names, I love that photo of Alfie too, he looks very unsure of having his photo taken – love his quizzical expression!
Hope you feel better from your Monday blues – looking forward to seeing snaps of your Alton Towers adventure!
Big loves
xxxxx

Oh bless, I love guinea pigs 😀 I have two, "Pig" and "Aero" (more often than not she's called "Mrs Pig") I absolutely adore them. I know a few people who have 50+ guinea pigs haha. They are soo cute, I love Oscar and Alfie too they are gorgeous 😀
May 17, 2011 at 5:41 pmMy top tips for feeding piggies are that they love vegetables, particularly carrots, curly kale, spring greens etc. – don't feed them lettuce though. I think they like peppers too. You can feed them on some of the vegetables you find in the 'sale' bit of Tesco (if you have a Tesco) cause they aren't too affected by sell-by dates.
Also hay is the best food they can have, and try to avoid the more commercial feeds (most feeds with unnaturally coloured food are bad for their teeth and digestive system.) Supreme Science Selective and Supa Guinea Excel are the best. And always make sure they have plenty of water! 🙂
(I only know this cause my mum's a vet!)
Happy guinea pig owning <3 😀 xx
Emma Greenwood
Oh – it's also definitely worth getting them neutered as two males together can often get very dominant. They will also become much more confident with lots of love and food 🙂 mine climb up at the bars when we come to give them food, and both used to be terrified of us 😀 xx

I'm sorry you're feeling a bit rubbish, but it sounds like an amazing weekend. Did you go to both Alton Towers and Blackpool Pleasure Beach in one weekend? I do love the rides but I think come Monday I'd have a serious headache. I live quite near to Alton Towers and I'm hoping to go again soon.
Your little Guinea pigs are so cute, I really like their colourings (does that sound weird?) and I love their names too.
Lastly, I don't want to gush, but I really like your blog, you seem like such a nice person, I'm so glad I found it xxx
