Iconic Japanese designer Yuko Shimizu created the Hello Kitty phenomenon in November 1974, and on nov 1st of this year Miss Kitty celebrated her 36th birthday! As you know, I am a massive Hello Kitty fan (my 6 year old sister insists she is a bigger fan than me, but I beg to differ) and although it’s a few weeks belated, I thought I’d say Happy Birthday and introduce you to a new character from Yuko, who hopes to have the same success as her kitty cousin.
Yuko has launched a new pop culture brand in the U.S. called Rebecca Bonbon, a cartoon French bulldog living in Manhattan. The line is already a big success in Japan and is starting to break through here. A handful of celebs (including the likes of Kim Kardashian and Ashley Tisdale) have been spotted in Bonbon attire. So, let’s introduce you to the little lady herself…
What do you think? Cute, huh? 🙂 Hello Kitty has became a global super star, and the same future has been predicted for this little frenchie. She was actually created 5 years ago but has only been launched in North America and Europe this month. I know this is a bit of a random topic, but really I am a big child at heart and I look forward to buying my sis a few BonBon related pressies for christmas, cause I think she is adorable!

However… it’s probably going to take any die hard fans out there much persuading that this new cousin on the block will be stealing Hello Kitty’s thunder any time soon.

Just wanted to say thank you for all the kind words you left on my last post. I’m feeling better but still a bit frazzled with life if I’m honest. I just read Gem’s latest post entitled ‘is it time to shred the rule book?’ and I think if you feel a bit lost at times then you should defo go and read it! (Actually, please go have a wee look at her blog anyways because she is an awesome girl) She talks about what we think is expected of us these days, and such pressures we put on ourselves to live upto these life ‘expectations’. I can relate to it 110%! Hope you’re all having a nice monday lovelies 🙂
