sales, saturdays and smoothies

Happy weekend everyone! Man, I am seriously so glad it’s saturday. David and Millie are tucked up on the couch watching a cheesy afternoon movie so I thought I’d make myself a cuppa and sit down and fill you in on whats been happening dans ma vie.

Thursday night after work I popped past Topshop to have a wee cheeky look at their sale. When it comes to sale time, I either have no patience or all the time in the world… So I tried to have a good rummage, and for the first time in forever everything I took to the changing room I ended up buying! You nabbed anything good from the sales recently? Heres what I got:

Floral print concessions dress (‘Love’, I think?) Reduced to £10.

Loveheart bodycon dress, £15.

J-j-j-jeggings! £12.

My first ever pair of harem trousers! Ok, so they don’t photograph well on a hanger. And I have no idea what to wear them with (suggestions?) so until I do, this is all you’re seeing for now! David thinks they look like jugglers trousers 🙂 Haha. Boys eh!? But They were reduced from £35 to £5, so I am determined to make them work!

On friday after work I met up with my lovely friend Cole in peckhams, for a latte and some caramel apple cake. I got him a couple of comps for Clockwork Orange, and my blender got delivered to work that day too! Jeez, I literally just ordered it on wednesday night and it was there waiting for me in work on friday morning. Brownie points to CSN Stores already 🙂

This afternoon, me and David got the train to a local tea room for sandwiches and a coffee. It was the place I went to with my step mum and max a few weeks ago – but when me and David were leaving we noticed a little pet store hidden away next door… so we went in for a quick look which turned into almost half an hour. They had guinea pigs, hamsters, turtles, snakes… it was awesome! If I get a couple of weeks off in the new year I’m thinking about volunteering at our local cats protection league. They get an abundance of unwanted cats/kittens after christmas time as you can imagine 🙁

David doing his paparazzi on me (and my new dress)

The mister ♥

We took a walk to morrisons on the way to buy some supplies, and I discovered they sell Reeses pieces so I bought a packet and gobbled them while we were waiting for my dad to kindly come and pick us up and run us home! Yes, I am a greedy sod. And my dad needed to collect some stuff from the flat so it was jolly good timing 🙂 Because I was desparate to go home and…

MAKE SMOOTHIES!

Ok, so if you scroll down a bit and read my last post then you will see that my kenwood blender was kindly provided by the smashing folks at CSN stores. We did a giveaway last time, but this time I thought I’d try something different and do a wee review for you all. The blender was my own personal choice, it cost £22.99 and delivery was £4.95 but super quick! I normally get quite nervous online shopping and like to recieve confirmation emails/updates when it comes to payment and when my item has been dispatched. I can’t fault CSN in any way for their checkout procedure, it certainly ticked all the right boxes! I found their site a little bit hard to navigate at first, mainly because I wasn’t sure what I was looking for. But once I knew I wanted a blender, I sorted their Appliances tab into £ Low – High (haha, just like ebay!) and scrolled away 🙂

I know my blender has much more potential than to just make smoothies – at some point I’d like to have a go at soups and pasta sauces. But for now, I thought I’d keep it simple. I didnt follow any particular recipie, just advice from people to use frozen fruit and fruit juice. It worked pretty well but I think I’d like to invest in the Innocent Smoothies Recipie Book, and maybe look up more recipies on the internet when I become a pro 😉 Which hopefully wont be long, because seriously, this was so easy!!

Morrisons frozen raspberries – £2
Morrisons frozen summer fruits – £2
Morrisons own orange juice – £1.48

This is what I bought to start off with, had no idea how much I would need to use…

Half a packet of the frozen fruit seemed to do nicely!

A large wine glass of orange juice.

Blend for about 15 seconds.

And… well, that was it 🙂

It was stupidly easy, and really yummy. It made me this full glass and about 3/4 of a pint glass for David too. So, I’d say for 2 servings it costs around £1.40, which is really only 70p per person! And considering how much some smoothies market for, its a pretty good bargain and I know it is super fresh and full of whatever I want! I’m not a yogurt fan, so I may try a variation soon with raspberries, and milk instead of orange juice. And maybe one of these Green Monsters I hear everyone ranting about. I’ll let you all know how that goes and what sort of blended recipies I brave myself (and David) for next. Thank you to the lovely peeps at CSN Stores. I was worried about being biased when it comes to talking about a company that have provided the little blog of horrors with a wee present – but you guys can trust me 100% ok 🙂 I love good customer service as much as the next person, and have been let down enough my some of my favourite brands/stores to be really wary when it comes to buying stuff online. But CSN recieve a come dine with me-esque 10 out of 10 for customer service, delivery, and a totally idiot proof and high quality product for only £22.99. Bargain, thank you please! 🙂

A bit of an epic read for a saturday so well done if you got this far <3 Just uploaded a whole load of stuff to my ebay if you want a wee nosy, and tomorrow I shall be buying a few pressies for my 400 follower giveaway, and for my parcel swap with the gorgeous Tennille in Australia. Thanks for being the supportive lovely jubblies that you are, you all have no idea how much your kind comments and banter mean to me ♥

Ayden x

I like your long posts 🙂 love what you have to say! Is it Topshop sale time again? I'll have to pop in; £5 for the harem trousers is an amazing bargain. That's so good of you that you want to volunteer! I can't believe anyone would give up a cat/kitten when they've experienced the cuteness of them 🙁
Peanut butter + banana + milk = a very nice smoothie! I used to make them all the time until I got sick of peanut butter! x

I've had to be really strict on myself and not even go into Topshop while the sale's on, as I always, ALWAYS get over excited by the price reductions and end up buying a load of stuff I don't need… Looks like you've got some good bits and pieces though! I think the harem pants could be quite versatile, as they're dark so should go with most colours. Like Victoria said, you're probably best sticking to fitted tops with them, as if your wearing baggy pants and a baggy top you might look a bit too… umm baggy?! xxx

Fab post 🙂 I don't venture much into Topshop – I've never really shopped there so am never sure of sizing, plus I find it a bit pricey, although I suppose that doesn't apply to sales!!

The blender looks cool. Just be careful though – smoothies can whack up your sugar intake. My dentist warned me about it last time 🙁

    1. Your make up is GORGEOUS. Pretty pretty girlie.
    2. I could eat Reese's Pieces all the live long day.
    3) I'm a massive fan of harem pants. MASSIVE.

I wear my harem pants with a tight top, usually, but if the top's a bit loose I wear a waist-belt to make it known that I still have a slim waist in there, somewhere!
Well done on all the sale purchases from Topshop, what store was it? Everytime I go in to browse the sales there's fanny all left in my size 🙁

Wow, what an amazing shop from Topshop. I wear Hareem pants all the time at work and normally wear them with a basic vest top and accessories :). They are super comfy – just like PJs.

I have the innocent smoothie book and it is just amazing.

Love the dresses you got – I have very little patience for sales shopping, wish I did tho! I would also love to volunteer at a cat shelter – we have 3 cats and are getting a kitten after Xmas (one of the wee unwanted ones) 🙂

Looks like you got some right bargains in Toppers! I'm the same, bit of a nightmare at times that place.

That smoothie looks pretty damn good! banana, bit of honey, yoghurt and bit of milk makes a really good milkshake. With a cheeky blob of nutella rocks it. 🙂 Not healthy though.

Thanks for the offer of the roots and skulls, that'd be fun to pick up from the postie!

I really love that first dress, it's gorgeous. Bet it would be a really nice fit. And loved your smoothie experimentation. I think I would make smoothies every day if it weren't for the washing up! Is that ridiculous? Haha. You should try frozen rasberries, about the same amount of milk as you used juice and a big spoonful of jam. Yum!xx

Wow you did well in that sale girl! With hareem pants I'd wear a tight vest top, cardi and a long necklace with heels (if you wear them) but i think they will elongate the leg so you don't look (like me) a shorty!

As for twitter um YES hello you need to get on there, u can use it on your phone too (if you have a blackberry or iphone thinggy) so it's really fast to just chat to people 🙂

come make me some smoothies pleasee! xxx

    Hey lovey.
I work in Tatty Bon whenever she needs me to be honest. I get paid in clothes and sandwiches and use my time there to work on ITCOW and catch up on uni work. It's pretty grand as it's fairly flexible, I get to do a wee bit of everything (styling for photoshoots, letting stuff out for fashion shows, buying trips down south)…in store events and general store stuff. I know I'll need to find a job that pays ze money for Christmas, but for now with all the uni stuff at the moment, clothes and sarnies suit me just dandy.

In the Company of Wolves is Wednesday 10th of November at the Sub Club missus, doors at 8pm and tickets £10 from ticket scotland.

Here be the designers involved this time round! Flyers and posters are popping up around shops now (was in Mr Bens and the Note today putting up posters) so sure you'll see some of the promotional stuff around =)

Good haul at the sale. Last time i got a sheer skirt for £5…didn't think I'd ever wear it…but it actually sang to me. Anything sheer, well it's like my siren song. Wear it all the time…so sure you'll find a way to show the harem pants some loving.

By the by…never ever get the Peckhams cheesecake. Took boyfriend there for birthday lunch and cake….gadz…worst thing ever. Had this really kind of….jellyesque texture? My heart…she broke. I think it was blackcurrent cheesecake on a chocolate base? BOO.

    Hope your well missus

    hi gorgeous ^^
you are so lucky that topshop isn’t overpriced where you are from. my cousin in Sydney, Australia said one recently opened and it’s like triple the cost if she was to buy the item in the UK.
mmm the items you got look amazing. I am loving that floral print dress, so cute ! what a steal at 10 pounds ;]]]] I have been wanting to get light denim colored jegging’s but the ones but I can’t find any that suit me LOL ><
with harem pants, I personally think they look best with a plain singlet and/or tshirt. Ive had a girlfriend wear a really nice silky type singlet with a cropped blazer and it looked really cute ;] just google harem pants and I am sure loads of inspiration will pop up ^^
*hi5* to signing up for volunteer work at a cat “pound” .. ive done that in the past, working as a volunteer at animal shelters and I was always in the cat section, people just don’t pay as much attention to them when dogs are around. 1 of my cats was a shelter rescue, she was a Christmas present apparently when she was a kitten but because she grew up the kids didn’t want her anymore *sighs* and she was only 6 months when I got her? How is that not a kitten .. ahh humans !
nice paparazzi photos of you ;] you look lovely !
ayden my dear, if you could .. would you mind sending me one of those smoothies? It looks scrumptious !!!!
ohhh btw .. I totally think its my internet that messed up my previous post because it didn’t save in my drafts like it usually does *sighs*
    damn you internet ! LOL
    hope your well darling!

What lovely sale purchases you got!! Those dresses are to die for.

I have a few pairs of hareems and usually pair them with plain, mostly shoulder heavy tops and statement necklaces. I don't wear trousers very often but when I do, my charcoal topshop ones are the ones I always reach for.

Good work with the blender – they're great for making soups too, when you're feeling less fruity!

Re your last comment on my blog – thanks so much for the welcome back! I'm hopefully going to be putting some real effort into A Storm in a Teacup soon. So nice to hear from you!!
