Make me up! I get by with a little help from the internet…

Untitled

Jeez guys, I need to be honest. I literally have no idea what I’m doing these days when it comes to makeup! I love all of the products which I use, but I feel like I’m on autopilot when it comes to their actual application. I decided to film a video for the first time in aaaages, chatting about makeup and using some tutorials to see if I could mix up my routine a bit and improve my technique. It’s a long one – sorry about that! It should only really last 10 minutes but I spend the last 5 addressing a little something which has made me feel a bit deflated this week. High five in advance if you manage to watch the whole thing! After making this one I definitely know what I would do differently next time, I’m extremely inexperienced when it comes to vlogging – I take my hats off to all of you who do it on a regular basis! You must have the patience of saints. Any suggestions or feedback would be much appreciated ^_^ Thinking of doing this once a month if there’s anything in particular you’d like me to chat about?

(My favourite part of the video is totally the cats wandering around in the background, especially when I speed it up for the actual makeup application! Haha)
Tutorials used:
How to contour and highlight by My Pale Skin
Contour and bold colourful makeup by Itslaurendotcom
Easy eyebrow tutorial by Mayra Touch Of Glam

I’m not quite sure of the etiquette and if I’m supposed to list every single piece of makeup I’ve used during this? There are links above to the ones I mention in the video, any other details you’d like to know then just holla! Also, in relation to the last 5 minutes of my chat, here is a link if you want to read up on Forever Living’s gold award from Investors in People and the DSA Consumer Code of Practice.
Special thanks to Urban Decay, Smashbox and Benefit for helping me up my makeup game! All opinions are honest and completely my own, as always ♥

Love this little video & your honesty! As a fellow FBO I also hear a lot of incorrect assumptions about forever living & what it stands for! People soon change their tune once they see the business plan! I must admit I was sceptical until I had seen it myself, but I'm so happy I joined. I love the products & they have improved my life so much! Like yourself, I'd never be part of something purely for money. I love the products & helping people improve their health. All hail aloe vera! I agree wholeheartedly that there is no room for negativity on your wee blog, keep doing what you do! Xxx

I love your honesty – watching most vloggers, I feel like everyone is a make up artist who knows exactly what they're doing. So I find your video really relatable and refreshing that you admit you can't do fake eyelashes I can't either! x

I loved watching this video – it's so nice to hear a vlogger with a Scottish accent! I also laughed when you admitted false eyelashes feel like 'big heavy beasts on my eyes' because I'm so terrible at applying them (they almost always ping off in at least one corner!) and when I do get them on I feel so aware of how heavy they are!

As a fellow Glasgow blogger, I wonder if you have any recommendations for places to go to get your eyebrows done? I'm really fair so I've always been scared about getting them tinted in case they turn out super dark – but I'm a little sick of not having any at all unless I pencil them in throughout the day!

I loved this post! Your accent is a lot heavier than I imagined, I hear accents so regularly that most of the time I don't even notice them, but yours I did! It's super cute. I'm right there with you with the false eyelashes, I can't get the hang of them but they're just so pretty D:

I know you're happy with your makeup products, but I just wanted to suggest a highlight/contour set! It's by Maskcara Cosmetics, the contour/highlights/blush/shimmer are all cream based so the whole palette actually replaces your foundation, and it's SO quick and easy to use with really pretty results. Their instagram is @maskcaracosmetics if you want to check out some before/afters. I've been using it for about half a year now and I don't think I'll go back to regular foundation 😡 I'm not sure if they ship to the UK, but if you decide at one point you want to try it just let me know and I can be your go between & ship to you.

Hope you have a good weekend! xx

This was such a great post! I watched it with my sister (who's 16) and she couldn't believe someone other than me has trouble with makeup too!
She has very low confidence in herself, and is constantly comparing herself to girls in her school, who seem to know everything about everything. She's not super savvy with make-up and I've been blue in the face telling her neither was I when I was younger. I think she thought I was saying it just to make her feel better!
This video gave her so much…I dunno, almost peace of mind that it's ok to be you, and to NOT know how to do stuff like makeup.
    Thanks so much!
PS – I sell Forever Living too, and have had a similar reaction from some people – "isn't it just a gimmick?", "that's all a scam, you don't need all that", "it's just water with gelatine and flavour" (?!)

I think some people don't trust positive reviews/opinions of a company, and almost need a little downside to qualify something as real!

you have my respect for just filming a vlog in the first place! I am so nervous about doing anything in front of a camera – don't think my accent would go down too well either haha
