Sensible heart

I’ve been lurking in the murky depths of my itunes recently… loading my ipod up with lots of music from my teens and songs which I had almost forgotten about. Listening to bands like City and Colour, The Twilight Sad, Underoath, Spitalfield, Taking Back Sunday, Reliant K, Hell Is For Heroes, The Postal Service and Funeral For A Friend (to name MORE than a few) makes my heart want to burst. In a good way. The best way, if that even makes sense? Lots of nostalgia and making me feel safe. My Hello Kitty headphones beat my old Skull Candy ones hands down. Makes it far too easy to sink away into my own little world on the journey to work 🙂 A bit belated, but here’s what I did with my weekend:
Friday night I had a little date night with David and we went to Sapporo Teppanyaki for the first time. Been eyeing up this restaurant for a while, but was dubious because the menu was kinda pricey in terms of our normal Japanese/Chinese haunts. Now we know why! Your dinner cooked right infront of you (I never knew what Teppanyaki meant, doh) along with a little show from the chef with all sorts being thrown about. Including little fried potato slices into your mouth from across the table! I’m a total dweeb and shut my eyes the first time and it hit me on the cheek. Fail on my part… but what great showmanship. Japanese food is my absolute fave, and we def got what we paid for, it was top notch. David got Beef Yakisoba and I got Salmon Teriyaki, with some Ebi Nigiri on the side while we were watching our chef juggle 3 eggs with a thin knife… Jeez! Safe to say we will be saving the pennies to make this place a monthly visit 🙂

When we got home on friday night I got my bag ready for my weekend away (sorted what to wear with the peter pan dress thanks to Victoria’s advice 🙂 cheers doll!) and did a tan with my new Vita Liberata stuff. Says on the bottle that 99% of customers say this fake tan is odourless. LIES! It stunk to high heavens of that typical smell. But, beauty needs must eh 🙁 Then on saturday morning, when I was resembling Mowgli from the Jungle Book, I went to turn the shower on and no water… Lets just say a major freak out followed, couldn’t have been a worse bloody morning for a burst pipe somewhere in Lenzie. David was worried that if I kept the tan on any longer I’d stay that way! Haha, what an awful sight I would have been. So he ran me over to my dad and julies house and I got showered and dressed there. Disaster avoided, and luckily the water was back on later that day.

Getting ready to head out in Edinburgh 🙂

Tiger lilys & Lulu’s
(Had the best Cherry and Amaretto Sours cocktail I’ve ever tasted, shame it was £8, not cool!)

Rickshaw ride home, my step mammy had sore feet from dancing in her heels all day!

Sunday morning, feeling surprisingly fresh! M&S goodies for breakfast/the train ride home. It’s okay to have mini yum yums, fruit jelly and sushi for breakfast… right?

So at midday on saturday I was on the train to Edinburgh with my overnight bag for my step mum Julie’s hen night. There was about 8 of us staying at the hotel, and another 20 odd ladies joined us during the day for drinks and food. This was my first hen night, and it wasn’t all cowboy hats and sashes… it actually just felt like a normal (but MASSIVE) girly night out 🙂 We got changed and had champers in the hotel and headed out for 3, and were in bed for 1am. So a long day, but I didn’t feel that drunk to be honest (I aint much of a drinker these days anyways) I actually felt really fresh and upbeat on sunday morning after a great sleep in the hotel. I always sleep really well in hotels for some reason. Wanted to go to Hannah Zakari but found out they are closed on a sunday, so I’ll need to take another trip through to edinburgh one weekend soon.

When I got home, me and David got lunch from Peckhams and went for a walk. My dad and julies wedding is next month, just a small wedding and dinner for the family at One Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow, then later in the evening we’re heading back to The Eagle Lodge in Bishopbriggs for the wedding reception. Still haven’t got myself an outfit (or David’s suit) I have no idea what kind of thing to wear so I’m comfy/classy/suited to the actual wedding and dinner and then party at night. If you have been to a wedding recently and have any suggestions then please fling them my way lovelies! I’m going to try get my hair all cut and coloured the week before and maybe my makeup done at Mac the morning of the wedding. Although I know little Max is totally going to steal the show with his outfit. He has the cutest little cream waistcoat and trouser combo with a tiny grandad shirt from monsoon. A boy after my own heart, I’m telling you! 🙂

I found out earlier that today is my last day at work until next monday (happy dance) but I’ve got a few things going on to keep me busy. Going to the gym, cupcake class, wedding outfit shopping, seeing friends, catching up on google reader and maybe tinkering with my layout is defo on the cards! Have a great week whatever you’re upto ♥

Ayden x

It looks like you had a lovely weekend! You look absolutely gorgeous in your peter pan dress, I'm never quite sure how to wear mine…
What a disaster about the shower, I have this really irrational fear every time I go in the shower that the water won't work, eek! xxx

What an awesome weekend- loving the dress, and the food is making me hungry- so glad I caught this close to lunch time.

I had a wedding to go to in Sept, and wore a dead simple maxi dress and blazer- I think simple dress + Jacket is a great combo- means you look smart, but chances are you can find something to wear again. Cocktail dresses all the way!

Aw Ayden I love reading all about your adventures! Wish I could be as open and personable as you on my blog, really struggle with that… AAAANYWAY I'm so glad you enjoyed Sapporo, it's amazing eh? I've been twice, delicious food and lovely staff. My mum assures me it's great to nip in at lunchtime for some sushi too. And I'm jealous of ur super Edinburgh weeked, I'm heading through on Friday, can't wait!

I'm loving your old school music tastes! Although I have to admit I listen to similar stuff all of the time!

The hen night sounds great, I've never been on one either. They scare me a bit with all the L plates and strippers, I'd definitely prefer something more sensible!

Looked like an amazing weekend. I'm also a huge Japanese food lover (I used to live there) and I loove that restaurant Teppanyaki, I've only been once though as it's really expensive. I tend to visit Wagamama's more often, I'm obsessed with their gyozas x

Waaa I want Hello Kitty headphones now, my Skullcandy ones are pretty rubbish compared to my brother's new Bose ones ): Loved the photos of the teppanyaki restaurant sweet, we have a teppanyaki bar at our family restaurant & it is so fun! xxx

You look so pretty in that first pic! I've just realised you remind me this little girl –

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFN1-uqt2WA

SO CUTE! (clearly you don't actually look like a three year old, I think it's just the blunt fringe that reminded me of her)

Saporro's awesome isn't it? There's one in Liverpool but I've not been for ages, hmmm I think a little trip there may be on the cards soon!

Such a nightmare about your water going off! Good thing you could go to your Dad's to shower! We actually woke up on Christmas morning with frozen pipes! My Dad had to defrost them with a hairdryer!

Glad you had fun at the hen party, sounds like a really fun day/night.

The last wedding I went to I was a bridesmaid, so I'm not much help on the outfit front I'm afraid. I'm sure you'll find something lovely though. H&Ms got some really pretty dresses at the moment that you could dress up or dress down – maybe have a look in there? xxxx

    Aw lovely pictures.

A blazer is always a good thing to have for a wedding… saying that though the last wedding I went to was on a freezing cold beach!

And I think there is a Hannah Zakari in Glasgow, hun. Somewhere near Glasgow uni I think? I thought there was actually one in Argyll Arcade but I've got a feeling I'm thinking of a completely different shop.

Gorgeous dresses you are sporting, pretty thing! I think wedding wise, keep it simple, maybe something nice in your hair? Let me know if you want to make you something pretty.

That restraunt is literally right next to my house! I pass it all the time when I'm going to uni. I prefer Ingram Wynd myself but I do have a soft spot for Japanease food. Always skinto though.
Hen night looks good! Last one I went was last Summer, just a fairly quiet night in a bar but was lovely. Couple of friends are getting married this year so imagine I will be having a few nights out.
Wedding I went to last Summer wore a lilac/pink dress with embroidered detail, green jacket…hair in le hive. Go for soft colours…loads in topshop – avoid black or white. Something with a classic cut. If you can get something that you will wear again – easy enough to dress up with shoes and good hair. TK.MAXX worth a shot. My BCBG dress for formal occasions was £33 in there and got a gorge Karl Lagerfeld dress for £60 – that works for the office and nights out. Anyway hope you have a lovely time missus.
Cherry sourz and armaretto cocktail. NOM. Two favourite flavours.

I've been doing almost the same thing actually! Just last night I was going through my ITunes, listening to all my old music, taking a trip down memory lane. It was really fun, and I actually rediscovered some of my old favorites..! 😀

Sounds like you had a great time at the hen party!! And you look really pretty in the pictures! Last wedding I attended, I was in the wedding party, and it was loads of fun, only the night of the hen party, it poured cats and dogs, so that was a bit of a bummer. Otherwise, it was really fun!
