As you all know, I am a major lover of indie designers such as Tatty Devine and Lady Luck Rules Ok. My love always goes out to those who support and promote them, including Hannah Zakari and We Are Made In The Shade. Big brands have been known in the past to completely rip less well known designers off and it absolutely makes my blood boil. So, wherever I can I try and support these unique brands. I like the ideas of items which are lovingly hand made, with none two pieces the exact same – rather than low quality crap being churned out of a factory.
When it comes to jewellery, I don’t tend to wear too much because of the nature of my work and the fact that they would more than likely get ruined and covered in paint. So when I do get the chance to wear some, I like to wear quite quirky and interesting statement pieces. Designer Zara Taylor sent me a gorgeous little piece of jewellery for my 21st last week and I am in love with it so much I thought I would share her work with you all 🙂
Thank you so much Zara! Zara sent me this gorgeous skeleton lady cameo necklace, and a long pendant is perfect for me because it means I can still wear jewellery around my neck without it looking silly or cluttered around my tattoos.
I am a total nautical fiend at the moment (wait until you see my new tattoo post coming up…) and I wore this little beauty all weekend. It is a really lovely quality and well finished piece, and went perfectly with my sailor inspired outfits 🙂 Both dresses and the denim shirt are from Topshop.
Here is a picture of the one and only Fearne Cotton wearing another one of Zaras gorgeous designs!
Zara was born in London and grew up near London Bridge. She is a mother of two children and decided 6 months ago to pursue her dream – and she literally just went for it! After selling her jewellery on a US website selling internationally she decided to promote herself here in the UK. Zara sent Fearne 3 long chain pendants and when she recieved them she emailed to say thanks and that they were amazing (Don’t you agree, girls?)
Fearne also said she was wearing one right there and then, so Zara checked the radio 1 website every day and each day she was wearing one of the pendants. Zara also saw Fearne every week on celebrity Juice wearing one of the pendants too, which is pretty bloody exciting if you ask me 🙂 This helped build Zaras confidence and so she decided to build her website, which you’d be a silly billy not to check out!

After just weeks of being live, Vogue found Zaras website and offered her a slot for their Vogue’s definitive guide to the most exclusive jewellery for the summer season. I really wanted to share Zara’s work with you guys because I know you value quality and individuality like myself. I feel like if we do more to support these independant designers then it will give them the ongoing opportunity to design and provide quirky and unique pieces of jewellery to people like us 🙂
The above two are another couple of my favourites from her website. I know I’ve focused in on the nautical theme, but she also has a whole other load of vintage inspired pieces including rings, bracelets and earrings too. So if you’re looking for a cute and quirky present for a friends birthday soon, or even fancy treating yourself then have a wee gander on the website and see what I’m talking about 🙂 Nothing more exciting than finding some new designs to get obsessed over (Gem is off on a similar rant to myself over at her blog http://gemfatale.blogspot.com) But I’m just glad I have people to share it with! 🙂 which means YOU GUYS haha. But yeah, I’ve been a bit of a rubbish blogger over my birthday weekend but lots has been happening and an update is on the horizon ♥
Will Turner: That’s not true. I am not obsessed with treasure.
Jack Sparrow: Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.

What a lovely birthday present! Lucky you 🙂
I had a quick gander at the site the other day, after Jen@ A Little Bird mentioned it – she's got some absolutely gorgeous stuff – sadly it's all out of my price range at the moment.. I'm totally hankering after a compass ring!
