I’ve been meaning to share these photos since our wonderful photographer Corinne sent them to us a few months ago now. After our highland elopement back in March, we waited a couple of months and held an evening wedding reception for our friends and family at the Oran Mor in the west end of Glasgow. I’ll try to keep my blethering to a minimum and let the pictures do the talking…

We booked a room for the night just across the road from our venue at the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor. This was super handy for getting ready, and also super handy for stumbling back into bed at the end of the night. My hair and makeup gals came to the room to get me sorted for the party, and were just so wonderful especially as I strangely started to feel those pre wedding jitters all over again for some reason. After all, we were already married, and this was just a party? A party with 100 more guests than we had at the elopement mind you!

The Oran Mor is such a beautiful building with an iconic interior, so luckily we didn’t need to do much to it decor wise. My wonderful bestie Gemma got us a candy cart complete with donut wall, Pete’s friend Danny at DK Decals made us vinyl lettering for the mirror frames, and I did all the table decor myself with the addition of some gorgeous flowers by Peacock Wedding Flowers. Our wedding cake was the Mr & Mrs Caterpillars from M&S, and our buffet was done in house by the Oran Mor catering team. We had the fantastic Lynne from Pretty Ugly on the decks for the evening, who played an eclectic mix of pop, rock, r&b and some golden oldie classics which got everybody dancing.

Our photographer Corinne is actually a very old friend of mine from back when we were teenagers. I’ve watched her photography career blossom from strength to strength (she was always the girl with the disposable camera when we hung around the skatepark!) and after she took Reuben’s newborn photos a few weeks after he was born I knew there was no doubt that I’d want Corinne to photograph our wedding reception. I love the life Corinne captures in her photos, she’s an absolute joy to be around too and always makes you feel so comfortable. It was hard to keep a straight face in some pictures as we were laughing so much! She delivered our USB in a beautiful wooden presentation box with a selection of prints, and the attention to detail from start to finish while working with her was just out of this world.
I met our videographer Laura Provan on the Glasgow Girls Club facebook page, as she was venturing into the world of wedding videos and was looking to take on some last minute clients. Laura also managed to rework the edit I had done of our elopement video, which was fantastic as it needed a lot of tidying up. We hadn’t thought about having a video until mega last minute, but I’m so glad we jumped at the chance to work with Laura because it’s really great to have a little video highlight of the evening!
I have such happy memories looking through our photos and videos from both parts of our wedding. After such a long build up, months of planning and budgeting, the day is over in a flash. If I could give any advice to future brides to be, it would be don’t sweat the small stuff because it’s honestly over so quickly. Soak up every single second and enjoy living in that very moment ♥ (oh, and definitely bring flat shoes for later)

These photos are so beautiful! The grading is gorgeous. That’s so interesting to read you had pre-wedding jitters all over again – I would probably be feeling the exact same way. Oh, and LOVING the Mr & Mrs Caterpillar cakes, I didn’t even know M&S did those!
