As my June birthday is looming, it came to mind that I should really update my list of 30 things I’d like to do before I turn 30. So this morning I pulled up the post I wrote on here, to have a look at my goals, and it turned out I published it a year ago today! Spooky brain timing indeed. So here’s how I’ve got on with the list so far.
1. Get married
Done! We eloped to the highlands at the start of March, and have our wedding reception planned in Glasgow in a few weeks time.
2. Honeymoon somewhere exotic
Not much cash left after what has turned out to be an expensive year… but maybe in 2020!
3. Take Reuben on his 1st holiday abroad
I will be finishing up a big job by August, so I’m hoping we can book a little week in the sun somewhere in August/Sept. So not technically before my 30th, but almost.
4. Move house
Done! Least favourite thing to do EVER but I am so grateful for more space and living closer to family.
5. Get more tattoos on my legs
Done! Got a lovely wee bit of Sailor Jerry Flash a few weeks ago, which has given me the bug again so I’m definitely keen to get another soon.
6. Sew patch collection on my denim jacket
Not even attempted this yet, but I’ve still got two months to get cracking!
7. Learn to cook with my mum
We’ve both been so busy and not had the chance to cook together yet. I definitely want to get a good few of her recipes under my belt before the end of the year.
8. Reach my goal weight
LOL. Not happening any time soon. And I’m not even thinking about it anymore to be honest. I’m eating better and looking after myself, and much less concerned about my post baby body than I was this time last year.
9. Volunteer locally
Now that we have moved to Kilbarchan I am definitely going to look into this and see if I can help contribute something back into the community.
10. Save a deposit for a house
Done! Now it’s time for round 2 as we save for a bigger house in the next few years. I love where we are just now but it’s definitely not our forever home.

11. Read more
Done! I have been reading a book a month since the start of the year and I’m really enjoying it so far. I sleep so much better reading a few chapters of a book before bed rather than scrolling through my phone (advice I’ve been given countless times but only finally listened to)
12. Use the manual setting on my camera
Not going to lie, I’ve not even attempted this yet. Bad Ayden.
13. Blog once a week
I’m getting there, slowly but surely.
14. Hit 10k on instagram
Hahahaha. No. Not even close. I need to stop worrying about the numbers and just keep doing my thing (easier said than done though eh?)
15. Keep chickens
We have a huge garden, and Pete is coming round to the idea, so I’m hoping this will become a reality very soon.
16. Work on another feature film
No feature films as of yet, but plenty of other TV projects to sink my teeth into which have been great fun. I miss being on maternity leave but it’s really refreshing getting back into work.
17. Design and make tshirts/tote bags
Still up for doing a Hello Rogue x Black Pine Coffee collab with Pete, perhaps in time for Christmas!
18. Learn how to make coffee
Need to start hassling Pete for a lesson in the shop. Althoughhhh then he might want to make me work there, so perhaps I am setting myself up here?!
19. Hold a dinner party
Need to nail the cooking first, doh. My Mum did buy us a cookery class vouchers for Christmas though (she’s trying to help, bless her!)
20. Do Veganuary
Totally missed the boat with this in January. Although, it doesn’t really need to be January though does it?! Need to get my finger out.

21. Work on my personal style
I am trying my very hardest! Now that Summer is here I’m looking forward to experimenting with different clothes and styles. I think a lot of my style-rut has been down to my own self confidence, which was at an all time low last year, but it’s slowly starting to return so that’s good. However, looking back on these pictures from the weekend I wish I had bloody tucked my top into my skirt properly.
22. Sing karaoke and share the proof online
Nothing yet lads, but there’s still time! And quite a few nights out planned in the next couple of months (god help me…)
23. Learn how to do French plaits/braids
Getting there, yasss! I have been trying to practice on my own hair which is quite difficult, so I’ll need to have a shot on some unsuspecting friends heads soon.
24. Go scuba diving
Not gonna happen in Scotland, but perhaps when we get a much desired holiday in the sun somewhere
25. Run a 10k
I’m laughing hard at Ayden 365 days ago and all her fitness goals. The only place I run right now is after my toddler, but I do hope with the better weather returning I can get my ass in gear with some outdoor exercise (perhaps a bit of light walking/jogging first…)
26. Book a personal shopping session
Totally going to treat myself and do this for my 30th with some birthday money! Let’s face it – I need all the fashion help I can get.
27. Go camping in Scotland
Spring has sprung and this idea seems a lot more viable as the good weather has started to sneak in. My friend Dom has just bought an awesome VW camper van and regularly goes on adventures into the wilderness, think I’m gonna start by asking if I can join her some time
28. Get more ear piercings
Done! I got my diath pierced last year, and it was very sore, and reminded me that I don’t like getting pierced… so I don’t think I’ll be doing that again soon
29. Take Reuben to the tattoo convention in Edinburgh
Done! Such a fun (and perhaps strange to some people) way to spend Mother’s Day. Reuben didn’t get a tattoo but I said to him maybe next year
30. Migrate my blog over to wordpress
Done! Something I wish I had tackled so much sooner. I did the migration with Lyrical Host and use them for my hosting too. They made the whole process so easy! I’m really pleased with how it went. However I will need to sit and go back through old posts to make some photos into ‘featured images’ – which is why you will see pictures at the front of some archived posts but not others, sorry!

So, that wasn’t as bad as I expected. I appear to have ticked 11 out of 30 goals on my list, with less than two months to go. I will give myself credit that some of those things were pretty huge though! (getting married and buying a house) and the only person setting the goals here is me. Ain’t no goal police gonna come knocking on my door if I don’t score 100%. So I’m not going to be too hard on myself, and looking back on the list has been a real eye opener as well. The priorities I had 365 days ago aren’t the same priorities I have today, and that’s okay. Life is constantly changing, and each day I re-evaluate what I’m doing on a small scale but also on a bigger scale too. Never feel like a failure if your plans change, or if life takes you down a different path. Having a baby has taught me to be more flexible, where I used to be completely rigid and absolutely oppose any change or deviation to the plan. I’m a lot more relaxed now and take things as they come. We are all evolving, and right now I feel like I’m exactly where I need to be (perhaps with the addition of some chickens, I’m not gonna let that one go easily!)

This might sound weird but I think one of the things I loved most about this update was where you acknowledged that some of last year’s goals don’t fit your life anymore. It sounds like it’s been a year of changing and growing, as much as it has been pushing yourself to do the things on an arbitrary list.
I think you should be really chuffed with who you are at 29, she’s ace.

I tried to learn how to French plait my hair but I was hormonal and ended up crying and giving up. Good luck getting your list finished!
